Karnataka is one of the South Indian states that is still witnessing on and off rains even after the withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from the country as against the northern parts of the country that is reeling under warm and dry days.
In the last 24 hours also, rains occurred in the state. Districts of South Interior Karnataka have received moderate to heavy rains. While light rains occurred over North Interior Karnataka. On the other hand, the coastal stations of Karnataka remained almost dry.
Within the last 24 hours from 08:30 am as on Wednesday, Mandya recorded 42 mm of rains, Mysore 35 mm, Bengaluru 18.6 mm and Dharwad witnessed light spells of 2 mm only.
The reason for this kind of weather prevailing over Karnataka as per Skymet Weather can be attributed to the persistence of a trough from South Interior Karnataka to North coastal Karnataka. Thus, in the wake of this, moderate showers are likely to continue over the southern districts of the state for the next 24 hours.
