The month of July has been rainy for the state of Uttar Pradesh. Particularly, the second half of the month has been blessed by Monsoon rains that have been continuing in parts of the state mainly in the southern and southeastern districts of the state.
From light to moderate with a few isolated heavy spells, East Uttar Pradesh has seen almost all. The last 24 hours also proved to be rainy for Uttar Pradesh when the eastern region of the state recorded exceptionally good rains. In fact, Varanasi has even recorded three-digit rainfall to the tune of 119 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these moderate with isolated heavy spells over Uttar Pradesh can be associated with a well-marked low-pressure area which is over Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand. Due to the prevalence of this weather system, rains occurred over Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to this, the axis of Monson trough is also running viaGazipurin Uttar Pradesh. The combined effect of both these weather systems has contributed in these rains. Furthermore, Skymet Weather reiterates that as this well-marked low-pressure area is now expected to shift northwest towards North Chhattisgarh and Southeast Uttar Pradesh, some more light to moderate rains with a few isolated heavy spells is expected.
Thus, the eastern districts of the state that includes Gazipur,Varanasi,Gorakhpur, Sultanpur, and Mou are likely to witness rains. In addition to this, the axis of Monsoon trough will also shift towards north thereby increasing rains over many parts of the state for the next 2-3 days.
