More foggy mornings expected over Bengaluru

With the advent of the winter season, many areas of the country have been observing foggy mornings. While plains of North India and parts of East and Northeast India have seen foggy mornings on several occasions, Bengaluru has not been left far behind.

As winter set in, the capital city of Karnataka has observed frequent foggy mornings. Dense to very dense fog approaches the airfield during the early morning hours. Air traffic disruption has also occurred due to foggy conditions.

However, the duration of these foggy mornings is usually quite short. Foggy conditions last for about an hour or so and after that, the weather clears up. This situation continues over Bengaluru till the month of February.

Around January 15, the frequency and the duration of foggy conditions in Bengaluru are likely to increase. This situation is expected as warm southeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal are expected to approach Bengaluru.

The overlapping of warm and humid winds with the cooler temperatures of Bengaluru will lead to the formation of fog over Bengaluru. However, as these foggy mornings will not be for longer durations, no major delays regarding trains and flight services are expected.
