Several districts of Uttar Pradesh have recorded scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers during the last 24 hours. In fact, isolated places like Moradabad received heavy rainfall of 57 mm.
According to Skymet Weather, a trough is seen extending from Punjab up to coastal Odisha across Uttar Pradesh. With this, on and off pre-Monsoon showers are expected to continue over these regions during the next 24 to 48 hours. These ongoing heatwave type conditions will abate from this state and the temperatures are expected to drop marginally and will give some sigh of relief to the residents of Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas.
During the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Varanasi and Bahraich recorded 15.4 mm of rainfall, Shahjahanpur 7.4 mm, Gorakhpur 6.6 mm, Muzaffarnagar 6 mm, Bareilly 5.3 mm, Hardoi 3.6 mm, Sultanpur 2.2 mm and Kanpur 1.9 mm.
These pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers are expected to continue over Northwest and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh during the next 24 to 48 hours. The onset of Southwest Monsoon 2017 is expected to arrive over this state by June 15.
