Last one week has been mostly quiet for the city of Bengaluru and the rains have been far and few. The dry spell is likely to break and decent showers are likely over most parts in the next three days. The weather activity will generally be in the evening and night and also relatively more intense on 29th September. The month of October is going to make a sleepy start at least for one week and may pick up thereafter.

September is the rainiest month with a normal of 212.8mm and drops to 168.3mm in October. Rainfall distribution has been uneven during September foe city and suburbs. The old observatory at HAL recorded only 112mm of rain whereas another city observatory registered 245mm so far in September. In the absence of any significant rains, the temperature touched nearly 30°C.

A weather system is emerging in the Bay of Bengal (from the Gulf of Thailand) off Andhra Pradesh coast with a trough extension across Peninsular India up to South Interior Karnataka and Kerala. This feature runs in the close proximity of Bengaluru and is expected to give rain and showers over the next three days. These rains will go mild again in the initial days of October. Invariably the activity is observed picking up towards the middle of October when the region prepares to receive the Northeast Monsoon.
