Southwest Monsoon again picked up pace over the East Coast of the country. Many areas have been receiving good rains from past few days and it seems like the trend of this rainfall is most likely to not go away. During the last 24 hours as well, many areas witnessed fairly widespread good rains. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, in particular has received heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

For instance, Machlipatnam recorded a whopping 119 mm of rainfall, followed by Kakinada 107 mm. Other areas that have recorded some very good amounts of rain are Tuni 69 mm and Digha 40 mm.

All thanks to the low-pressure area which is presently seen over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas that has infused Monsoon surge over the region. Now this weather system has intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area and will move gradually in a westerly direction.

Skymet Weather predicts good rain and thundershowers likely to continue over Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast. However, light to moderate showers are expected over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata.

Thereafter, the rain intensity will reduce, but the possibility of scattered rains cannot be ruled out over these regions for next 24 to 48 hours.
