Until now, South Peninsula is the most rain surplus region in the country. It is just ahead of Central India. Between June 1 and August 26th, South Peninsula has received 24% surplus rain in comparison to Central India which is surplus by 23%.

Surprisingly, Tamil Nadu which is a rain Shadow area is surplus by 70%. It is also the rainiest state in the country as of now. Kerala is the only state which is deficient by 17% in South India but it falls in normal rain category.

During the second half of August, rain activities have subsided over South India. Recently, we have seen rains picking up over many parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and South Interior Karnataka as well as over Rayalaseema.

There is a trough from North Interior Karnataka to Comorin area across South interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. A cyclonic circulation is over southwest Bay of Bengal and a trough from this cyclonic circulation is extending to interior Tamil Nadu. In the wake of these weather parameters, we expect good Monsoon rains to occur over many parts of Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala for at least next one week.
