Rain activities have revived over Maharashtra. Many districts of the state have been receiving moderate showers with isolated heavy spells. Out of 4 Meteorological divisions of Maharashtra, only Marathwada is rain deficient. Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha are in the normal rain category.
A trough is extending from Jharkhand to south Madhya Maharashtra, therefore, we expect light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells to occur over Vidarbha, Marathwada, north Madhya Maharashtra and North Konkan and Goa during the next 48 hours. Mumbai may also witness moderate showers with isolated intense and heavy spells.
Although monsoon may start withdrawing from west Rajasthan in the next 24 to 48 hours, rain activities are expected to continue over Maharashtra until the end of September with light to moderate intensity.
There may be some improvement in rain statistics of the state by the end of the month. There are chances that Marathwada may also come under the normal rain category. The monsoon usually withdraws from most parts of Maharashtra by October 10. This year also we think that rains will continue over parts of Maharashtra until the first week of October.
