Sporadic rainfall activity is being observed in Odisha for the last many days particularly in the coastal areas. The interior parts of the state are also observing isolated activity. This clearly means there hasn't been any widespread activity so far in the state.
Now, we expect rain to increase over Odisha. Light to moderate rain is expected in many parts of the state. Isolated heavy spells cannot be ruled out either.
The reason for these rains is the south-westerly winds from Arabian sea which are reaching up to central parts of the country including Odisha. Northerly dry winds are also affecting the state.
These two opposite winds will merge over Odisha and its adjoining areas. A Trough is also extending from Northeast India up to coastal Odisha. The combination of these weather systems will enhance rainfall activity in the state for the next three to four days. So, we expect Monsoon to cover parts of Odisha particularly South coastal Odisha in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Subsequently, rain in the sate will continue with varied intensity for a longer period. However, the intensity will be more for the coming two to three days, tapering marginally thereafter.
