Madhya Pradesh has been reeling under hot weather conditions for many days. However, in the last 24 hours, good rains have been recorded over many parts of West Madhya Pradesh and scattered over North and Northeast Madhya Pradesh. Places like Satna, Khajuraho, Gwalior, Guna, and Jabalpur recorded 7.1 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm, 17.7 mm and 9 mm of rains, respectively.
Rains were observed in West Madhya Pradesh due to a Low-Pressure Area, previously Cyclone Vayu, which was over Southeast Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh. This Low-Pressure Area has fizzled out but we expect scattered rains to continue over Southwest Madhya Pradesh for another 24 to 48 hours.
Weather of rest of Madhya Pradesh will be dry, particularly over the North and Northeast parts of Madhya Pradesh. The entire state of Madhya Pradesh would now witness almost dry weather conditions with rising temperatures. The mercury won’t see an immediate jump but there will be many parts that have to once again face the brunt of temperatures somewhere in their lower 40s.
Around June 24, another good spell of rain is expected, and it might continue until June 26 or 27. These rainfall activities will be influenced by the Low-Pressure Area which will form over Andhra Coast and will move inland over Telangana and adjoining areas. We can say that these good rains may mark the onset of Monsoon over South Madhya Pradesh. Thus, places like Hoshangabad, Betul, Mandla, Seoni, Khandwa, Khargone and Dewas will get to see rains.
At present, West Madhya Pradesh is deficit by 71% and East Madhya Pradesh stands at a deficiency of 61%. These rains might help in improving the deficiency levels but looking at the extent of deficiency, improvement might be a marginal one only.
