Usually by June 5th, Monsoon covers most of the northeastern parts of the country. But this year the onset of Southwest Monsoon over Kerala is delayed by 8 days. As of June 9th, almost all the Northeastern states are large rain deficient, and the overall deficiency of East and Northeast India is 82%. The low-pressure area over the east Central Bay of Bengal has not allowed moisture-laden winds to reach north East India.
Low pressure has intensified into a well-mark low and subsequently into a depression. The weather system has moved over the Northeast Bay of Bengal. This depression will help in pulling the monsoon currents over Northeast India. We expect moderate to heavy rain over many parts of north Eastern states during next week. Rain deficiency will start decreasing over North East India with the onset of monsoon. It will be delayed on set. Further progress of the monsoon over East India will get delayed. However, monsoon May make an onset over Sab Himalaya in West Bengal and Sikkim in the next 2 to 3 days.
Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions is going on over parts of Bihar. Heatwave conditions at isolated pockets of Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. We do not expect any significant relief from ongoing hot weather conditions for at least the next 4 to 5 days over East India.
