The time has finally come for the Southwest Monsoon to cover the entire country. According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions are favourable for Monsoon to advance into the remaining parts of WestRajasthanand Kutch region ofGujaratany time now.
Monsoon has been vigorous over central parts of the country for about a week now. Incessant rains have led to flood over Madhya Pradesh, initially over eastern parts and later over western parts. Not only this, the adjoining parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and South Rajasthan are also reeling under flood-like situation.
These rains can be attributed to the series of cyclonic circulations prevailing over SouthwestMadhya Pradesh, Northeast Madhya Pradesh and North Odisha. These weather systems are joined together with a trough.
In wake of this, July has been performing very well in form of above normal rains for last one week and as on July 11, the countrywide cumulative rains stood excess by 2% and on July 12, countrywide rain excess was 4%.
As the journey of the Onset of Monsoon comes to an end, we will now see some more characteristics of the four-month long season. For instance, Monsoon trough will now make an appearance that extends from northwestern plains to Northeast India across the Indo-Gangetic plains. This trough holds great significance for rains over North Indian and Indo-Gangetic plains.
We will now also see break Monsoon conditions wherein the trough will shift northwards along the foothills of Himalayas up to Northeast India. Vigorous Monsoon rains can be seen over the region during this time, posing flood threat over Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya.
Meanwhile, rains will reduce over rest parts of the country. It is only during this time, when rains pick up pace over Tamil Nadu and Rayalaseema region which generally do not see much rains.
