Monsoon to cover East Uttar Pradesh; Rain in Punjab, Haryana to continue

The Northwestern Plains that include the states of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh including Delhi have been witnessing dry and warm weather since last few days, except Punjab that has been receiving on and off Pre-Monsoon spells.

However, during last 24 hours, scattered rain and thundershower activities occurred over parts of Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan and one or two places of West Uttar Pradesh.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Patiala 35.3 mm, Karnal 35 mm, Ambala 27.9 mm, Agra 2.8 mm, Chandigarh 1.4 mm.

Now, a cyclonic circulation is seen over central parts of Pakistan and a trough is extending up to north Bay of Bengal across north Rajasthan, north Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Along with this, humid easterly winds from Bay of Bengal are also increasing moisture over Northwestern Plains.

Therefore, we expect pre-Monsoon activities to gradually increase over West Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, North Rajasthan, Haryana and parts of Punjab.

Monsoon is likely to make an onset over East Uttar Pradesh by tomorrow, and by June 29 it may cover many parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Moreover, Monsoon is expected to reach Delhi on time and Monsoon rains may commence over Delhi around June 29 and June 30.
