Weak monsoon conditions are going on over Northwest India for the last week or so. However, isolated rain has occurred over parts of Punjab and Haryana as well as Uttar Pradesh. These rains are for a very short duration and have covered a limited area. That is why day and night temperatures of the Northwest plains are above normal. Discomfort has increased.
The axis of the monsoon trough is now south of its normal position. It is passing through Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. The western end of the monsoon trough will gradually shift towards the north. We expect isolated light rain to commence over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh from July 24.
The intensity and spread of rain will increase between July 25th and 28. There may be moderate rain with one or two heavy spells over Haryana, Delhi, and western parts of Uttar Pradesh on July 26 and 27. Rain activities over northwest Rajasthan how will be light and scattered. The weather in north Rajasthan may become dry from July 26.
The ongoing sultry Weather conditions will abate Northwest India as the increased rain activities will drop the temperatures. Light to moderate rain may continue over Punjab Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh until the end of July.
Most of the Global models are indicating the impact of El Nino to become more prominent in August. Monsoon rain may be below normal due to which above-normal temperatures and discomfort levels will increase once again in August.
