Monsoon has arrived over Kerala and is expected to penetrate into some more parts of the state during the next two days. Rain will also increase along the West coast and many places are expected to get showers. Rain is expected at many places in east and its coastal belt during the next two days. One or two places in this region could receive heavy rain during the period. Rain would also occur at many places in northeast. North, northwest, central and some parts of east India would remain hot and dry.
Monsoon conditions would continue to prevail over Kerala where Kochi has received 38 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Moist winds over Kerala would be blowing from west. Monsoon showers are expected at many places in Kerala, coastal Karnataka. Rain would also occur at a few places over Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka and one or two places of Konkan, Goa and south Maharashtra.
Squally winds touching a speed of 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph would prevail along and off north Orissa and West Bengal coasts during the next 12 hours. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the period. Bihar and Jharkhand will have rain at one or two places during the next 24 to 48 hours.
Northeast India will also have rain at many places with heavy rain at one or two places in Assam and Meghalaya during the next two days. The weather conditions are associated with the storm that is hovering near Canning in West Bengal and will move over to Bangladesh to weaken into a low.
Hot and dry weather would continue over north and northwest India. The Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir has moved out northeastwards. Rain is not expected in these regions during the next few days. A Western Disturbance would come into effect next month possibly by 4th. Till then, Westerly to northwesterly winds would blow over northwest plains. Temperatures would be above average by 3 to 4 degrees. Delhi will have temperatures in lower forties.
Central India especially northwest and west Madhya Pradesh will be very hot as temperatures would maintain at around 45 degrees. Westerly land winds will prevail over the region. Nagpur in central India could experience heat wave. South Uttar Pradesh will continue to witness heat wave-like conditions during the period.
