Incessant moderate to heavy rains continued to lash entire Goa during the last 24 hours as well. All thanks to the prevailing active to vigorous Monsoon conditions over the region.
According to Skymet Weather, the off-shore trough running along the West Coast from Konkan & Goa up to North Kerala has kept the Monsoon current active the state. Moreover, a fresh cyclonic circulation has developed in Arabian Sea off the Karnataka coast which is further enhancing the rains.
So far, Panaji in Goa has recorded 812.8 mm of rain against the monthly average rainfall 861.5 mm. As on June 22, Goa has reported excess rainfall by 8%.
With weather conditions remaining conducive during the next 24 hours, we expect Goa to surpass its monthly average rainfall anytime now.
As per the weathermen, moderate to heavy Monsoon rains with isolated very heavy to extremely heavy rains are likely to continue on all the days left in the month of June.
Goa has been witnessing torrential rains ever since the arrival of the Southwest Monsoon 2016. Though it had made late onset over the coastal state but Monsoon has been active over it since then, giving moderate to heavy on most occasions and very heavy on many days.
Prior to that also, Goa had been witnessing good pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers.
