Monsoon season to end on deficient note for Northeast India

Northeast India has its own charm with some real surprises for the travelers. It is a land of wavy hills with luxurious green patches and wide variety of flaura and fauna.

As per the weathermen at Skymet, the overall average of rainfall recorded this year seems to be deficient by 9% because of less amount of rainfall experienced in the northeastern part of the country. However, the agriculture belt still received good amount of rainfall, but they couldn't cover up the deficient levels.

Whereas, in the past 24 hours, good rains were witnessed over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Nagaland. This activity will continue for the next 48 hours.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is lying over central parts of Assam and the southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal are feeding moisture to Northeastern states. Therefore, it will lead to scattered light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells over some regions. However, light rains will be seen over few parts of Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Despite of receiving good amount of rains at present, there would be no improvement in the deficiency levels. The northeastern states didn't experience much rains because no major weather system took place over Bay of Bengal that traveled up to the region.

The luxurious green patches may not continue to remain green in coming years if such levels of rain deficit continue to prevail.
