The state of Gujarat recorded excess rains on account of Cyclone Biparjoy in the month of June. The month of July saw Monsoon systems travelling up to Gujarat giving good rains over the region. However, during the month of August rains have been far and few over the state of Gujarat.
You to this, on August 1, Saurashtra and Kutch was surplus at 131 percent and has now dropped to 71 percent. For Gujarat region, there was a surplus of 29 percent that has come down to -6 percent.
Gujarat has been seeing very little rains for the past few days and hardly any rains are expected in the coming days. In fact, quantum wise, Saurashtra and Kutch have only seen 5 mm of rains between 1st and today. Gujarat division has been slightly better at 27 mm, but it still remains well short of normal.
No major system is expected over Gujarat which may give rains. Only southwesterly flow and proximity to the Arabian Sea will give light to moderate rains over the coastal parts for areas right from Vapi to Surat. Rains in the other parts will not even be in double digit and will be only light remaining around or below 5 mm.
