After a delay of around a week, Monsoon 2019 has finally reached Uttarakhand on Monday. With this, we expect rains to also follow soon. The Northern Limit of Monsoon now passes through Mukteshwar in Uttarakhand. Along with this, a fresh Western Disturbance as a Cyclonic Circulation is over Jammu and Kashmir and adjoining Pakistan.
It has already given scattered light to moderate rain over Jammu and Kashmir. Adding to this, the experts have to say that now, we expect Himachal Pradesh as well as Uttarakhand to receive good pre-Monsoon rain and thundershowers until June 25. The intensity is expected to go down on June 26, but isolated spells will keep continuing.
Few good spells of rain and thundershowers over Uttarakhand including Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Haridwar are expected during the next 24 hours. Similarly, rains will be seen in Kullu, Kinnaur, and Mandi of Himachal Pradesh as well. In the next 24-48 hours, the weather will be pleasant but since the rains would be moderate in many places, chances of landslides and mudslides cannot be ignored.
It is a vacation time, thus the tourists along with the residents of the region are advised to take precautionary measures before heading out in the streets.
The frequency and intensity of prevailing Western Disturbances have decreased to a great extent, but still, intermittent weather activities are going on over the hills. The weather has not absolutely turned dry. Till last week, heat wave like and heat wave conditions were prevailing over the lower districts especially over Nahan, Solan, Dehradun, Haridwar, and Jammu wherein the mercury was almost nearing forty degrees.
With these weather activities in offing, much relief is expected as we progress in Monsoon month, heat wave is a rare phenomenon to be witnessed during the second half of June.
