Due to the effect of both these weather systems, light to moderate rains with one or two heavy spells occurred over West Bengal and many parts of Odisha.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, in Odisha; Keonjhargarh recorded heavy rains to the tune of 63.4 mm, followed by Sambalpur 40 mm, Balasore 2.3 mm, Bhubaneshwar 7.1 mm, Cuttack 2.6 mm, Dhenkanal 1 mm, Jharsuguda 5 mm, Koraput 4.8 mm and Titlagarh 3 mm.

In West Bengal; Coochbehar recorded 10.6 mm of rain, followed by Darjeeling 4 mm, Diamond Harbour 24.2 mm, Jalpaiguri 8.4 mm, Kolkata 7.4 mm.

Currently, the depression has crossed Bangladesh and weakened into a well-marked low, however the trough is still persisting. Therefore, we expect good rains to continue over Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha including Kolkata, for another 24 hours.

Moreover, Southwest Monsoon 2018 has also made an onset over some parts of Gangetic West Bengal as well as more areas of Odisha including the state capital Kolkata and Puri.

Thereafter intensity of rains is likely to reduce marginally. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal may also receive moderate showers at few places.

Temperatures will remain warm but comfortable. Sky conditions will be cloudy to partly cloudy.
