Rajasthan has been blessed with good showers during this Southwest Monsoon. On several occasions, the state has enjoyed good rainy spells.
During last 24 hours, south and East Rajasthan observed scattered light to moderate showers. A few districts in the northern and western regions also witnessed good rains.
From 08:30 AM on Sunday, Churu recorded 61 mm of moderate showers, while Jaipur received 18 mm, Bikaner 15 mm and Sri Ganganagar 11 mm. Jodhpur 3 mm and Ajmer 2 mm also observed light rainy spells.
These incessant rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation that is persisting over South Gujarat and adjoining areas. Also, there is one more cyclonic circulation that can be seen over West Rajasthan and adjoining areas. Besides this, the axis of Monsoon trough is in close proximity to the state.
These weather systems are expected to give some more light to moderate rains at many places over East Rajasthan, however, rain intensity will decrease over the western region during the next 24 – 48 hours.
At present, East Rajasthan is enjoying a rain surplus by 50 percent which is considered to be one of the best-performing regions in the entire country. On the other hand, West Rajasthan also stands at a rain surplus of 27 percent.
