Since last one week, on and off Monsoon rains have been occurring over Kolkata. After the onset of Monsoon over Kolkata on June 12, the City of Joy had recorded some good on and off Monsoon showers. However, last 24 hours have not seen much of weather activity over West Bengal including Kolkata.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Sriniketan recorded 19.8 mm of rainfall, Krishnanagar 19.6 mm, Coochbehar 8.4 mm, Bankura 7.4 mm, Malda 2.9 mm and Jalpaiguri 1 mm and while Kolkata recorded few traces of rainfall.
According to Skymet weather, a feeble trough is seen extending from central parts of West Bengal up to Coastal Odisha across Gangetic West Bengal. With this, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities are expected to continue over West Bengal including Kolkata.

Meanwhile, during the next 24 to 48 hours, these on and off Monsoon rains will not be continuous and may remain subdued over Kolkata. But the weather condition over this region is likely to remain warm and sultry. However, the sky will remain partly cloudy along with humid weather to prevail over the region.
Thereafter, the intensity of these rains is expected to witness an increase by June 20. During that time, Kolkata may witness some good spells of Monsoon rains.
