After the onset of Monsoon over Kolkata on June 12, the city of Joy had recorded some good rains. However, last 24 hours have not seen much of weather activity over the city.
According to Skymet Weather, Monsoon surge has slightly weakened over Gangetic West Bengal including Kolkata. With this, rain and thundershowers are also likely to reduce over the region for the next 24-36 hours.
However, with the presence of moisture in the atmosphere, local development of convective clouds over the city during the afternoon hours cannot be ruled. But intensity of rains will be confined to light only and duration will short.

Weathermen predict that a cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over Northwest Bay of Bengal, which will once again revive the Monsoon current over the region.
So far, the city has only recorded 30 mm of rain as compared to its monthly average rainfall of 283.5 mm. But with 13 days in hand, we are hopeful that city might reach its monthly target.
As the Monsoon rains take a back seat, temperatures will rise once again over the city. Increased moisture levels will further add to the discomfort.
