Monsoon rains to take a back seat over Punjab and Haryana

Punjab and Haryana witnessed active to vigorous Monsoon conditions prevailed over parts of the states. Due to hefty showers, pleasant weather conditions are prevailing over the region.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Patiala in Punjab recorded heavy rain of 93 mm, Ludhiana 55.6 mm and Pathankot 42 mm of rain. Meanwhile, Bhatinda witnessed 20 mm of moderate intensity rain and Anandpur Sahib 14 mm of rain.

In the same span of time, Ambala in Haryana witnessed heavy rain of 73.4 mm. Sirsa witnessed moderate rain of 24 mm and Rohtak 22 mm of rain. As per Skymet Weather, the axis of Monsoon trough was moving across the states and the western disturbance was active over the Jammu and Kashmir.

These weather systems can be attributed to the rainfall across both the states. At present, the western disturbance has shifted a little but is still persisting as an upper air system over central parts of Jammu and Kashmir and the axis of Monsoon trough has further moved towards the foothills.

It is anticipated that rainfall will reduce significantly over the region. The westerly dry winds will prevail over the region. Partly cloudy sky with dry weather conditions will prevail over the states. Patchy rain may occur over few parts of the states such as Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Ambala.
