During the last 24 hours, good Monsoon rains have been occurring along the coastal areas of Karnataka. Thus, places such as Mangaluru, Agumbe and Madikeri and a few places over southern parts of Karnataka have been witnessing moderate rains.

Also, since last few days, Bengaluru has been receiving scattered light Monsoon showers. Thus, the weather over the state, as well as Bengaluru, has remained comfortable in the last couple of days.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Agumbe recorded 82 mm of rainfall, Mangaluru 35 mm, Madikeri 33 mm, Mandya 11.4 mm, Honavvar 11 mm, Karwar 9 mm, Hassan 4.2 mm and Belagavi 4 mm. Whereas, the state capital merely recorded a few traces of rainfall activity.

These weather conditions can be attributed to an offshore trough which is seen extending from Gujarat Coast up to Kerala. Also, this trough is likely to lose its strength gradually. Therefore, the intensity of these rains is expected to reduce significantly over the state including Bengaluru.
