As per Skymet Weather, the reason for this reduction in rainfall activity can be attributed to the weak Monsoon surge over coastal Karnataka and adjoining regions. Due to this, the offshore trough has also become less marked and is present, running from North Maharashtra to Kerala Coast.
Hence, the rains have reduced comparatively and will continue to lash the West Coastal areas of the country with a reduced intensity. However, the Monsoon surge is once again likely to pick up the pace once again. The rainfall activity is all gearing up from South and within the next 24 hours, heavy rains with isolated heavy showers are expected over Coastal Kerala within the next 24 hours.
The wind speed along the Kerala coast is also likely to gear up. Hence, once these rains will pick up the pace, moderate to heavy showers are likely to lash Coastal Karnataka along with South Konkan and Goa. However, light to moderate rains is anticipated over North Konkan & Goa and Mumbai.
