Monsoon rains to return in Nagpur, Akola; Mumbai, Pune, Nashik to get light showers only

Rain in MaharashtraMaharashtra continues with mainly dry weather continues barring parts of Konkan & Goa and few parts of Madhya Maharashtra that saw light to moderate rains.

In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Vengurla 14 mm, Harnai 7 mm, Alibag 6 mm, Dahanu 5 mm, Satara 3 mm, Kolhapur 3 mm, Mumbai 2 mm, Pune 2 mm and Sangli 1 mm.

Mahabaleshwar was the only station of the state which saw some heavy rain to the tune of 74 mm.  Isolated showers were also seen over one or two pockets of Vidarbha like Akola that saw 8 mm of rain.

However, weather conditions are set to take a u-turn now. According to Skymet Weather, intensity of rains is all set to increase over Vidarbha region during the next 24 hours. These showers will continue for the next 2-3 days.

These showers can be attributed to the formation of a fresh cyclonic circulation in Northwest Bay of Bengal. The system will gradually move inland towards west. Though, the impact of the system will be more Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh but Vidarbha will also get few good spells.

During the next 24 hours, cities such as Nagpur, Akola, Gondia, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bhandara light to moderate rains.

However, weather over Marathwada and adjoining areas of Madhya Maharashtra such as Parbhani, Jalna, Hingoli, and Latur are expected to be dry.

Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Dahanu, and Vengurla would continue light showers with some moderate spells, while Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Jalgaon, and Satara would see light to very light rains.
