Madhya Pradesh is one of the few states that has been observing good Monsoon rain and thundershower activities since the second half of July. This is because most of the Monsoon related weather systems are making their way to Madhya Pradesh, be it a Low-Pressure Area or Depression.
During the last 24 hours as well, rains continued wherein East Madhya Pradesh recorded light to moderate showers while scattered rains were observed in the remaining parts.
According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Low-Pressure Area is over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand. This system will give fresh Monsoon rains in the eastern districts of the state today. By tomorrow, most parts of the state will get covered by this rain belt.
These fairly widespread rain and thundershower activities would continue for the next three days. Although intensity would mainly remain moderate, a few heavy spells cannot be ruled out.
As our meteorologists are not expecting vigorous rainfall activities this time, a severe flood-like situation may not arise. However, precautions must be taken as chances of waterlogging are high. Moreover, the floodwaters due to recent extremely heavy downpour have not receded yet and the upcoming showers may worsen this situation, thus creating traffic havoc.
By August 22, Monsoon rains will taper over the region and continue with light to moderate intensity only. The showers would also be mostly scattered.
