This Monsoon season, Maharashtra has performed fairly well with all the regions witnessing surplus Monsoon rains. However, Monsoon has gone mild over the state for the last few days.
According to Skymet Weather, in absence of any significant weather system, Monsoon rains have been evading most parts of Maharashtra, especially the interior parts.
Coastal areas have been recording some light rains on account of the feeble off-shore trough. Similarly, Vidarbha has also been witnessing on and off light showers but both the regions have not reported any significant rains. However, Marathwada and Mahdya Maharashtra have been mainly dry.
As per weathermen, no major changes are expected in the weather conditions in the coming days as well, barring parts of Vidarbha.
Vidarbha region may witness some good showers after the next 24 to 48 hours. By that time, the fresh well-marked low pressure area presently seen in Northwest Bay of Bengal is likely to move inland in west direction towards Madhya Pradesh. It is then, it may affect the region giving light to moderate rains.
As on August 15, Madhya Maharashtra is rainfall surplus by 25%, followed by Vidarbha 19% and Marathwada 15% and Konkan and Goa region is by 21%.
