The state of Gujarat had a good month of June in terms of rainfall. While Monsoon did make an onset a little late over the state but good showers over the entire Gujarat made up for the delayed onset. Cities including Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Porbandar and Valsad witnessed good rains.

So much so that both the regions including Saurashtra and Kutch as well as Gujarat ended in surplus rains. While the Saurashtra and the Kutch region at present is witnessing a rainfall surplus of 10%, the Gujarat region is at an advantage of excess rains of 30%.

However, the month of July has not been as beneficial as it was for Gujarat. In fact, the last 24 hours have been disappointing in terms of rains.

The only regions to have received light rains in the past 24 hours are Surat, Nandurbar and Deesa. The neighbouring state of Rajasthan is also witnessing similar weather conditions.

As per weathermen at skymet weather, the rainfall intensity will reduce further over Gujarat and dry weather is expected to take over. While isolated places may receive light rainfall activity, all in all the entire state will witness dry weather conditions.

These conditions will occur due to the absence of any weather system over the region along with the weakening of the off shore trough along the West Coast.
