During the past few days, Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra have been recording some good Monsoon showers. The past 24 hours were also of not much difference and the region ended up recording light to moderate showers.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Saturday, Bhira recorded a good of 30 mm of rainfall, followed by Nagpur 30 mm, Nanded 12 mm, Kolhapur 11 mm, Parbhani 7 mm, Mumbai 4 mm Matheran 3 mm and Mahabaleshwar 3 mm rains of light intensity.

These Monsoon rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation that was over Madhya Maharashtra. Along with this, an off shore was also running from Konkan up to Kerala. This circulation has become insignificant; besides this the trough has also become feeble.

As a result, Monsoon rains are likely to reduce over most of Maharashtra. Weathermen at Skymet Weather expect light rains at many places during the next 24 hours. Isolated moderate showers also cannot be ruled out. Vidarbha, Marathwada, Konkan including Mumbai and Madhya Maharashtra will see light Monsoon rains.

The weather will continue to remain calm and easy. Temperatures will settle close to the normal levels. However, humid afternoons are likely to give a touch of unease.

As on September 9, the entire state of Maharashtra is rain deficient by 6 percent. As far sub-divisional rainfall is concerned, Vidrabha is rain deficient by 28 % and Marathwada 7%, whereas Konkan region has witnessed normal rains and Madhya Maharashtra is rain surplus by 12%.
