Southwest Monsoon has remained rainy for the most popular tourist state of South India, Kerala. Though the intensity of rains was mainly light in nature, on and off rains have continued in the state with a short break.
September too followed the August suit and from the last 3 days, most parts of the state have been witnessing rains of light intensity. Light rainy spells continued in the last 24 hours as well and within the span of the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, Kottayam recorded 4.2 mm of rains, Alappuzha 2.2 mm, Kochi 1.4 mm, and Thiruvananthapuram witnessed light spells of 0.8 mm.

The reason for these rainy spells over Kerala can be associated with a trough that is extending from Rayalaseema to South Tamil Nadu. In the wake of this weather system, rains occurred over interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

As per Skymet Weather, now also light to moderate rains will continue over Kerala for the next 2 days. Though the rain intensity will be more in the interior regions of the state as compared with those lying in the coastal districts. The rain intensity will reduce after 24 hours and only light rains will continue over the state. In a nutshell, on and off rains are likely to continue but heavy spells will remain absent.
