Both Chhattisgarh and Odisha have been witnessing moderate to heavy rainfall from past few days. During last 24 hours as well, both the states had recorded good spells.

However, rains are all set to intensify further, wherein we can expect heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over most of the northern parts of Odisha.

South Odisha along with North Chhattisgarh is expected to witness light rainy spells. On the contrary, South Chhattisgarh may observe some moderate showers.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to the depression that has now intensified into the deep depression. The deep depression is presently seen close to West Bengal and Bangladesh border approximately 100 km east of Kolkata.

Due to the westerly movement of this weather system, the northern parts of Odisha and North Chhattisgarh will be the most affected regions.

Let’s have a look at the rainfall recorded in both the states in a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday:

As on August 9, Odisha is witnessing 9 percent lesser rains than its normal while Chhattisgarh is observing 3 percent more rains as compared to its normal.

Moreover, rains are further likely to intensify over both the states and moderate rains are a possibility during another 24 -48 hours.
