Rain in Bihar and Jharkhand

Bihar witnessed light to moderate showers during the last 24 hours, wherein Supaul recorded 30 mm of rains, followed by Chapra 13 mm, Patna 10 mm, Forbesganj 6 mm, Muzaffarpur 4 mm, Purnea 3 mm and Bhagalpur 2 mm.

Now, the weathermen at Skymet Weather anticipate rainfall intensity to increase over the state during the subsequent 24 to 48 hours. There is a probability of few moderate to heavy spells over Bihar as well.

These showers could be credited to the axis of Monsoon trough which is running across the state.

Thereafter, we presume the intensity of showers to curtail, however on and off rains at scattered places will continue. As the axis of Monsoon trough is likely to shift slightly southwards, rainfall will also subside over the northern regions of Bihar such as Araria, Kishenganj, Muzaffarpur and Sitamarhi by September 6. On the other hand, showers will increase over the southern districts of the state like Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Gaya and Aurangabad during the same time frame.

Nevertheless, the possibility of flooding rains over Bihar is not apprehended but there may be events of waterlogging and inundation. As on September 2, the state of Bihar has seen normal rainfall with a deficiency of 17%.
