Mumbai rains had taken a backseat a few days ago with the city receiving only light rains. In fact, both the observatories had been recording rainfall in single digits. However, things took a fortunate turn and Mumbai rains made a grand comeback.
The maximum city has been receiving good Monsoon rains for the past three days. In fact, one of the observatories even recorded rains in three digits two day ago. The last 24 hours have also been good enough for the city with heavy showers being recorded over many parts of Mumbai.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Santa Cruz observatory recorded a good 40.6 mm of rain. Heavy rains of 49.2 mm were also observed over the Colaba Observatory during the same time frame.
Mumbai has already surpassed its monthly mean easily, which once seemed like a daunting target as rains had taken a backseat.
Now, during the next 24 to 48 hours, Monsoon rains will take a backseat. The maximum city will only receive light to moderate showers during the coming days. In fact, rains will remain of similar intensity until the end of this month.
However, rains are likely to pick up pace once again around the beginning of September and good rainfall is expected around September 2.
