All parts of Maharashtra have received scattered monsoon rains over the last two days. Rains seem to be easing out, over the state now. The past 24 hours saw heavy showers in only a couple of places. Colaba, in the Konkan region and Jalgaon in Madhya Maharashtra received over 50mm of rainfall. Rest all, the landlocked sub-divisions and coastal parts received light to moderate showers. These include Jalgaon, Sholapur in Madhya Maharashtra: Parbhani, Nanded in Marathwada; Buldhana, Akola in Vidarbha region. Washim, Wardha, Gondia, Nagpur, and Brahmapuri in Vidarbha did not receive any rainfall.  Intensity and spread are going to reduce over Maharashtra, now on and the rain belt may shift over contiguous parts of Karnataka and Telangana.

There was a cyclonic circulation over Marathwada and adjoining Madhya Maharashtra, which caused decent spread of monsoon showers, earlier over these two sub-divisions. Vidarbha was largely left out, more so the eastern parts of the sub-division. The circulation has shifted to parts of South Madhya Maharashtra and North Interior Karnataka region. Accordingly, the rainfall belt will shift from most parts of the state.

Scattered and moderate rains are likely today over South Madhya Maharashtra, North Interior Karnataka and sparingly over Marathwada. Tomorrow, the monsoon showers will lash Telangana, North Karnataka and southern parts of Chhattisgarh. The circulation is likely to go weak and may get filled up, over these parts, sometime after 48 hours. Spread and intensity of rains will shrink substantially for the subsequent 4-5 days. Rains are going to reduce significantly over South and Central India mid-week onwards. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala will only find sporadic showers for brief duration during this period.
