Good rains have been lashing many parts of Northeast India since past many days. Several parts recorded light to moderate rains in the past 24 hours as well.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Tinsukia recorded a good 40 mm of rainfall, followed by Cherrapunji 39 mm, Guwahati 32 mm, Agartala 22 mm, Goalpara 21 mm, Silchar 20 mm, Lumding 18 mm, Pasighat 17 mm of rainfall.

These rains can be credited to the southwesterly winds which are blowing from the Bay of Bengal and reaching the region. Moisture levels are hyped due to the flow of these moderate winds.
According to Skymet Weather, we can expect light to moderate rains to continue over most parts of northeastern states, but heavy to extremely heavy rains are ruled out for at least next four to five days. For now, no significant weather system is expected over Northeast India.

The weather will remain pleasant with partly cloudy to overcast sky over the region. Also the temperatures will remain continue to settle near the normal levels.
As on July 26, the subdivision of rainfall distribution statistics show that Assam and Meghalaya is rain deficient by 16%, Arunachal Pradesh by 18%, Nagaland , Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura by 11%.
