September 30, 2017 10:42 AM | Skymet Weather Team

As predicted by Skymet Weather, moderate intensity Monsoon rains lashed the ‘city of Nizams’, Hyderabad in the past day. In fact, Hyderabad has been recording good Monsoon showers from the past three days. A few spells of Monsoon showers were also witnessed by the other cities of Telangana as well. On September 28, the city witnessed rains to the tune of 24 mm.

However, the rain intensity reduced the next day but it did record rains. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Hyderabad recorded 14. 2 mm of moderate intensity rain. In the same span of time, Nalgonda witnessed heavy rain to the tune of 91 mm and Ramagundam also recorded 14.2 mm of Monsoon rains.

These Monsoon rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which lies over west central Bay of Bay Bengal off Odisha coast and the upper air trough which is extending from this system up to North Kerala coast across Andhra Pradesh and South Karnataka.

The dry and warm winds along with the moist winds over Telangana including Hyderabad had also contributed to these rains. Moreover, due to the above-combined weather systems, light to moderate rain and thundershowers will continue to occur over the region in short spells.

The rainfall activity is likely to continue for the next two to three days more. The weather will remain humid and the sky conditions will be cloudy. The continuous spells of rain have given relief from the sultry weather which was prevailing over the region.

The maximum temperatures will settle between 31 and 30°C and the minimum will settle in the range of 21-22°C. The weather during the morning and night hours will be pleasant. As on September 29, Hyderabad is rain surplus by 7 percent while Telangana is rain deficient by 14 percent.
