Southwest Monsoon has been giving good Monsoon rains over the sub-division of Vidarbha. So much so that during the month of August, Monsoon rains have been intense in nature over these areas.

On the other hand, Marathwada has witnessed occasional light Monsoon rains during the above-mentioned time frame. The month of September began on a dry note for Marathwada. However, Vidarbha did receive a few rainy spells.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Gondia recorded a good 17.6 mm of rain. Other areas to have received some rains including Washim 15 mm, and Bramhapuri witnessed light rains of 1.6 mm.

Now, a few good spells of rains are expected over the sub-division of Vidarbha during the next 24 hours. The intensity of these rains will range between light and moderate. Marathwada will also receive some rainy spells at a few places. The possibility of a few light spells of rains over the Madhya Maharashtra region cannot be ruled out as well.

These rains will be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which has formed in the North Bay of Bengal. A trough is extending from this system all along the East Coast. Thus, moisture incursion is expected to increase over the interiors of Maharashtra resulting in a few good showers.
