These nonstop rains have made the weather pleasant across the city and nearby adjoining areas. Yesterday as well light rains were recorded in Chennai.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 AM on Sunday, Nungambakkam observatory of Chennai recorded 15 mm of rain. However, Meenambakkam observatory only witnessed light rains.

As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to an upper air trough which prevails in the mid tropospheric levels. Due to this weather system, moisture increased over the city and adjoining areas leading in cloud development and rain.
