The axis of Monsoon trough was running via Madhya Pradesh and South Chhattisgarh, which is why the rainfall activity was swaying between moderate to heavy over these regions. So much so that many pockets of Madhya Pradesh had to bear the brunt of flash floods.

Present day, with the northward shift of the Monsoon trough and formation of a cyclonic circulation over South Bihar and adjoining Jharkhand, the rainfall intensity will enhance over the states of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

As a result, few moderate to heavy spells can be expected over the north and central districts of Chhattisgarh namely Ambikapur, Koriya, Balrampur, Bilaspur, Korba and Raigarh.

The districts of Jharkhand would too not outlive and see good Monsoon rain and thundershowers in the coming days such as such as Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, Ranchi, Dhanwad, and Daltonganj.

As on August 22, Chhattisgarh has reported normal rains with negligible deficiency of 1%, however, the state of Jharkhand is highly rain deficient by 28%. With the forthcoming showers, we hope Chhattisgarh to incline towards rain surplus, while the rain deficiency of Jharkhand will ease to some degree by the month end.

Hence, the point is that North Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand would continue to see on and off rains till the end of the month. In the interim, South Chhattisgarh’s districts like Jagdalpur may observe patchy light rains.
