Monsoon rains to bless West Rajasthan shortly

Monsoon is yet to make its arrival over parts of West Rajasthan. So far the rain received in West Rajasthan is 4 percent less than the normal. However, East Rajasthan is witnessing good surplus rains of 33 percent as on July 11.

In the past 24 hours, East Rajasthan has received good amount of rains. Some pockets of West Rajasthan have also witnessed light to moderate showers. However, far-flung pockets of the state including Jaisalmer and Barmer are still waiting to be blessed with Monsoon showers.

The table displays rainfall recorded in most pockets of Rajasthan during last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday:

The southeastern districts of the state may receive moderate rains at some places while a few parts of this region may also observe heavy rainfall. Within next 24 to 48 hours, most districts of Rajasthan including West Rajasthan is also likely to receive scattered light to moderate rain-thundershowers. This will in turn further improve the rain deficiency and eastern part of the state will witness more surplus while West Rajasthan which is at present witnessing lesser rains than its normal will also experience an improvement in rains.

Multiple Monsoon systems are bringing heavy rainfall in South Rajasthan and North Gujarat. With these wet spells, it can be expected that Monsoon might make its onset over the entire state in another 1-2 days.
