Monsoon made its onset over Kolkata timely and has been pouring light to moderate showers continuously since then. At present, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Gangetic West Bengal due to which we expect scattered rains over Kolkata and adjoining parts of Gangetic West Bengal.
Kolkata has been receiving on and off rains since last many days. Now we expect that the intensity of rains to increase over the state due to the persistent cyclonic circulation. As per Skymet Weather, humidity is likely to increase and the possibility of thundery cloud development will induce thundershower activities with squally winds occasionally.

We expect that these on and off rains will continue to another five to six days. The rains would be light with one or two moderate spells. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday only traces of rains were recorded in Kolkata.

Comfortable weather will prevail over Kolkata but as the city is in close vicinity of Bay of Bengal, therefore whenever there is a gap between showers and weather clears up even for a short duration, it leads to increase in day temperatures and humidity.
Monsoon is currently deficit by 17% over Gangetic West Bengal. Though scattered rains will continue over many districts, the intensity will not be such that it would reduce the rain deficit over Kolkata.
