Monsoon rains to begin once again over Delhi and intensify over Uttar Pradesh

Monsoon rains are surplus over Delhi by 30% and Uttar Pradesh is deficient by 5%. Whereas East Uttar Pradesh is surplus by 4% and western districts of Uttar Pradesh have received significantly less rainfall that is why it is deficient by 21%.

Monsoon is subdued over Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Rain activities are expected to increase over eastern part of Uttar Pradesh by September 20 and between September 22nd and 25th there may be significant increase in rainfall over entire Uttar Pradesh. Moderate to heavy rain may occur between September 23rd and 25th over Central and Eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh a leading to local flooding.

Delhi is experiencing dry weather with bright sunshine and partly cloudy Sky. Now, rain activities are expected to commence over Delhi and NCR from September 21st and on and off rain activities may continue for another 3 to 4 days. Which means, monsoon withdrawal will get delayed from Northern Plains including Delhi and NCR.

Reason for the commencement of monsoon rains over Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation over Odisha and adjoining areas which will be moved in Northwest direction towards north Madhya Pradesh. Western end of axis of monsoon trough may also move in north. These weather parameters will enhance the rain Over both the states.
