Andhra Pradesh has not been fortunate enough to be blessed by Southwest Monsoon this year. The state has hardly managed to witness good showers.
Due to the absence of any significant weather system, except in the coastal areas, almost dry weather was prevailing over most parts of the state. In fact, temperatures of most parts of the state were also settling at a higher scale and the weather conditions were humid.
However, during last 24 hours, most parts of the state have recorded few good showers. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, Machilipatnam observed 12 mm rainfall, Vijayawada 4.4 mm, Ongole 3.6 mm and Vishakhapatnam and Kakinada observed 0.3 and 0.2 mm wet spells respectively.
The reason of these rains can be attributed to a development of a cyclonic circulation over central Bay. Further this system has moved towards west and is presently seen in close proximity to Andhra Pradesh coast. Further, this system is likely to intensify into a Low Pressure Area over the region.
With the approach of the aforesaid system and its movement towards northwest, widespread light to few moderate spells are expected to lash the parts of the state. Moreover, coastal areas are likely to receive mainly moderate rains.
At present, the state of Andhra Pradesh has received 11 percent lesser rains than its normal. However, possibility of rains over the region is likely to reduce this rainfall statistics.
