August 25, 2016 8:20 AM | Skymet Weather Team

Many areas of Gujarat have recorded good and hefty rainfall in the last 24 hours. Dessa in Gujarat received 83 mm of rainfall and Ahmedabad recorded 62 mm of rainfall. But this weather activity is more likely to abate the state soon.

The cyclonic circulation over Southeast Rajasthan persists and is extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level. This system is likely to move in a westerly direction and weaken gradually.

Kutch region is still deprived of rains, but this present system gave light rains over Kutch region in the last 24 hours. Even the coastal areas received very light rain.

As the system is moving away, rainfall will decrease in most parts after 24 hours. But as of now light rain is likely to continue over several regions of the state for next 12 hours. This rainfall activity will decrease further.

At present, Gujarat subdivision is rainfall deficient by 23%, whereas Saurashtra & Kutch region is rainfall deficient by 21% and with the subdued rainfall activity over the state from tomorrow, this figure will have to wait a little while more to reach the normal figures.
