Monsoon rains lash Gopalpur, Sambalpur, Puri, Paradip in Odisha, more in offing

The weather conditions along the Odisha coast seem favorable for the residents of the state. The state has been observing good Monsoon showers from past a few days. In fact, few spells of moderate to heavy Monsoon showers with isolated very heavy spells have occurred over coastal areas of Odisha during the last 24 hours. In the next 24 hours too, these rain and thundershowers will continue over several parts of the state.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Gopalpur recorded 84.1 mm of rainfall, Sambalpur 83 mm, Bhabanipatna 76 mm, Koeonjhagarh 65 mm, Angul 41 mm, Titlagarh 41 mm, Puri 26 mm, Jharsuguda 19 mm, Paradip 17 mm and Koraput 12 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough was extending from Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Interior Odisha. With the presence of this weather system, the moisture incursion has increased over the region inducing rainfall over several parts of the state. As of now, the Northern Limit of Monsoon has covered most parts of Odisha.

Weathermen predict the intensity of rainfall to decrease over this region during the next 24 hours. However, most parts of the state, particularly coastal areas will keep on receiving good Monsoon rains.

The maximum temperatures over coastal areas will settle in mid-30 degrees, while interiors will be in higher 30 degrees. The night temperatures will continue to be comfortable.
