As reiterated by Skymet Weather, a fresh low pressure area has developed in west-central Bay of Bengal off the Andhra Pradesh coast. The system has already started affecting the weather over coastal parts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

In wake of this, most parts have recorded mainly moderate showers, with few places recording heavy rains as well. In span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Karaikal recorded 58 mm of rain, followed by Ongole 36 mm, Tuni 29 mm, Cuddalore 17 mm, Narsapur 16 mm, Bapatla 15 mm, Chennai 14 mm, Machilipatnam 8 mm and Trichy 9 mm.

Now as we proceed further, the system is likely to shift in westerly direction, crossing the coast and moving inland. With this, coastal areas of both the state will continue to record good Monsoon rains for next 2-3 days. Few places can record heavy showers as well.

In addition to this, the low pressure area will also start impacting interior regions of the states. As a result, light to moderate showers will also begin over Rayalaseema of Andhra Pradesh and interiors of Tamil Nadu, particularly northern parts.

However, intensity of Monsoon rains will reduce over Tamil Nadu after two days as the weather system will move in northwest direction towards Telangana and Maharashtra. Thereafter, it will start giving rains over other parts of Interior Peninsular India.
