Monsoon rains in Punjab, Haryana to reduce, temperatures to increase

The northwestern plains have been recording widespread rain and thundershower activities for the past many days. In fact, three digit rains in many districts of Punjab have also been recorded. Though, the intensity of rains reduced during the past day but many districts of Punjab and Haryana did record light to moderate showers with few heavy spells.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Karnal recorded 55.8 mm of rain followed by Patiala at 49.4 mm, Bathinda 45 mm, Kurukshetra 38 mm, Sirsa 32.4 mm, Ambala 26.9 mm and Chandigarh 15.8 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation over Punjab and adjoining Pakistan has become less marked. Therefore, activities over the northwestern plains such as Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh would now reduce.

However, scattered Monsoon rain and thundershower will continue for another 24 hours. Thereafter, the intensity of rains would reduce further over Punjab and Haryana. In fact, dry and hot weather conditions are likely to make a comeback though isolated activities cannot be ruled out.

With the reduction in the Monsoon rainfall activity, both the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to reduce significantly over both the states.
