Coastal Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing light to moderate rains with isolated heavy spells for the past two to three days. These rains had been occurring due to a cyclonic circulation, which was initially over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, but gradually moved towards Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Thus, as reiterated by Skymet Weather, many districts of Andhra Pradesh recorded Monsoon rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Kakinada witnessed heavy rain to the tune of 31.6 mm, followed by Machilipatnam at 21 mm, Kurnool 19.9 mm, Vijayawada 14.2 mm. In the same time frame, Tirupathi, Kalingapatnam, Nellore, and Ongole recorded light Monsoon rains.
As per Skymet Weather, we expect light to moderate rains to continue over the districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh for another 24 to 48 hours. However, the intensity of showers would reduce thereafter. Places such as Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Tuni, Bhadrachalam, Vijayawada, and Narsapur are likely to witness rainfall activity.
On the other side, Rayalaseema will continue to observe subdued rainfall activity. Though, after the reduction of rains, the weather will not go completely dry. Thus, on and off rains over the North Coastal districts cannot be ruled out.
As on July 9, Coastal Andhra Pradesh is rain surplus by 18 percent. Meanwhile, Rayalaseema is rain deficient by 11 percent. It is anticipated that the rain deficiency of Rayalaseema will persist. However, rain statistics of Andhra Pradesh may improve further. In fact, these rains will also help in sowing of paddy crops. The weather conditions will continue to be warm and humid despite the rains.
